As part of the largest annual space event in the world – we offer a week-long series of events that celebrate our local tourism operators and small businesses within the Wairarapa Dark Skies Reserve.
This week serves as a vital platform for building the workforce of tomorrow by inspiring students and encouraging their interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). It also demonstrates strong public support for the space programme, educates the public about the exciting activities happening in space, and fosters international cooperation in space outreach and education.
With this year’s theme of ‘Space and Climate Change’ shining a light on the importance of space exploration and technology, it brings us closer to comprehending and addressing the challenges that are brought about by climate change.
Hosting some of Aotearoa’s finest minds in Astrophotography, Celestial Navigation, Astrophysics, and various STEM fields. These experts will be leading discussions and exhibitions, participating in AeroSpace Education and Employment Expos, and showcasing a range of space-related opportunities amongst tertiary providers and key Wellington organisations.
We are tremendously grateful to this year’s major sponsors, Carterton District Council and WellingtonNZ. Without their generosity this World Space Week 2024 may not have been possible.
Join us as we explore the wonders of space, celebrate our achievements, and look forward to a bright future filled with discovery and innovation.
Thank you for being a part of Carterton’s World Space Week 2024.
