Jan and Stuart Abernethy, the owners of Lavender Abbey have been in business since 2009. The business stemmed from Jans growing passion with lavender and she began to make natural lavender products which eventually grew into Lavender Abbey we know today. Jan says that “Lavender becomes all-consuming after a while” and her passion still continues to grow.
Lavender Abbey is open by appointment, just ring and pop down, or Jan can deliver your order from Masterton to Featherston. Jan describes Lavender Abbey as Luscious, Affordable, and Passionate. Carterton has the perfect weather for growing lavender, hot and dry, and that is part of the reason the Abernethy’s love it here so much!
Jan’s business tip is to do as much in your business as you can but if there is something you’re not good at, outsource. Something she says she has only just figured out after 12 years!
