Coordinator Position

Go Carterton is Carterton’s Business Association. We have around 100 members from across the business community and all over the Carterton district. Our aim is to be the voice for Carterton business - we own and operate the CartertonNZ website and social channels to promote our businesses; we liaise with Council to ensure the voice of business is heard; we organise networking events for our members; run awards programmes and more.

We are looking for a Coordinator who is proactive, confident, resilient and self-managing. You'll also need to be a problem solver who has a passion for business as well as the ability to juggle multiple demands and manage your time.

This is a busy and varied role and the right person for this role will be:

  • Customer focussed: you’ll need to enjoy working with people, and be adept at developing and maintaining relationships
  • Tech and social savvy: we need you to hit the ground running with MailChimp, Xero, Canva, Google Drive/Docs, Facebook, Instagram
  • Armed with basic financial knowledge
  • Able to write well, and have great verbal comms skills
  • Happy working independently, proactive


Duties will include (but you might come up with new ideas, and we’re open to that!)

  • Maintaining emails, and responding to general enquiries
  • Coordinating executive meetings, writing minutes, and following up on points raised
  • Coordinating Economic Development Advisory Group meetings with Carterton District Council, and taking notes
  • Collating, designing and sending regular newsletters
  • Ensuring business membership details are up to date
  • Producing invoices, paying bills, reconciling transactions on Xero, and producing financial reports
  • Creating social media graphics, pamphlets, etc.
  • Managing Go Carterton's Facebook and Instagram
  • Updating the CartertonNZ.com website with new business listings, blog posts, etc.
  • Liaising with members to host business socials, coordinating RSVPs, attending networking events
  • Liaising with other key stakeholders, e.g. CDC, other business associations, Destination Wairarapa.

Hours: Hours worked are flexible, though on average you will do about 10 hours per week.

If available and suitable, the Go Carterton Coordinator would be given a one-off, short-term project which would likely require around 20 hours per week for the first 10 weeks.
